How to Use Cat-Rex

Whether you’re a seasoned cat owner or new to the world of cat litter, this page is for you.
Here are some tips, suggestions, and instructions for the best use of our products, perfect for experienced and new cat owners alike.

General Instructions

1 Start by filling the litter box with 7 to 10 cm of our Cat-Rex litter. Most cat owners will find our 10.5 kg package to be just right.
2 Regularly clean the litter, ideally daily. Thanks to our litter's strong clumping ability, the cleaning process is simple, quick, and mess-free.
3 After cleaning, add litter as needed. We recommend completely replacing the litter in the box about a month after the initial fill, and throwing the old litter out.

Litter Box Training for Beginners

Training kittens or young cats to use a litter box requires patience and attentiveness. These instructions will help simplify and shorten the process for you and your cat.

What to Do
  • Teach your kitten how to use the box.
  • Place them in the box at regular intervals.
  • Help your cat learn to dig in the litter.

Pro tip: Regularly cleaning the litter will help the kitten get used to the box and allow you to guide their digging, worry-free.

What Not to Do
  • Don’t let the kitten play or eat in the litter box! Cats have a clear separation between where they eat/play and where they do their business. Playing in the box can confuse them about its purpose.
  • Don’t forget your cat’s size and age! Standard litter boxes may be too big for a young kitten. You can use a modified aluminum baking pan at first, as long as it’s placed where the permanent box will be.

The Ideal Litter Box Spot

Cats are pretty particular about their litter habits. They prefer it not too close to their dining area but also not too far from where the family hangs out, like the living room. Ignoring these preferences could make your cat uneasy about their bathroom routine, or worse, might lead them to avoid the litter box altogether.

You don’t want them doing their business in your closet or on a pile of clean laundry. Finding the best spot for the litter box might take some time, but once you find a good location, it’s best not to move the box to avoid confusing your cat. If you must move the box, you may need to retrain them, which can be hard on an older cat.
